During the visit, the defense chief was briefed on the progress of the airport project.

According to Deputy General Director of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Head of the Project Management Unit of Long Thanh International Airport Nguyen Tien Viet, construction units have sped up their work with the aim of basically completing the project this year, being put into operation for commercial purpose in the first half of next year. Nearly 10,000 experts, engineers, workers and laborers and nearly 3,000 equipment have been mobilized for the work.

Viet emphasized that the most difficult and arduous packages of the project are being conducted by military enterprises with high determination and efficiency.

Gen. Giang inspected the progress of some packages. He also visited and encouraged those in charge of implementing the project.

He acknowledged hardships and difficulties faced by officers, soldiers and workers of Corps 12 and the Air Defense - Air Force Service while performing their tasks in scorching weather and dusty conditions which affect their health. He hoped that they would try their best to fulfill the assigned tasks.

In a working session with representatives from ACV, Truong Son Construction Corporation, Aviation Construction Corporation (ACC) and other contractors, Gen. Giang praised their great efforts of project-engaged cadres, engineers and workers.

He asked units, particularly Truong Son Construction Corporation and the ACC to continue weathering difficulties, promoting good qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, confirming the position of military enterprises, ensuring both progress and quality of the project.

In the morning the same day, Gen. Giang attended the technical operation of the third component project of the first stage of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Investment Project. In this component project, the express section in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is 19.5 km long with one end connecting with the end point of the second component project which borders Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Dong Nai provinces, and the other end bordering Highway 56 section in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province’s Ba Ria city.
