PANO – The Dat Mui Border Post of the Ca Mau Provincial Border Guard Command have exerted great effort to fulfill their assigned missions and be the firm support for locals, especially in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, hunger eradication and poverty alleviation.
According to the post’s deputy head, Captain Pham Quoc Trung, the post is tasked with managing and protecting 45.9km of the sea border. The locality where the post is stationed has many tourist attractions and is often badly affected by strong winds and storms. Therefore, the post’s staff, apart from defending the sea border, has actively supported locals with socio-economic development, upheld political security and safety as well as undertaken rescue missions.

Moreover, the post has boosted its program of “Supporting students in going to school”. Accordingly, it provides VND 500,000 for each student in need per month.
Most recently, it has mobilized dozens of working days of its staff to build a traffic road linking Khai Long and Kinh Cut hamlets, facilitating transportation for locals and contributing to the movement of “the Army joins hands in building new-style rural areas”.
Noteably, Dat Mui Border Post has helped 14 local households escape from poverty by connecting them with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to get loans for product development.
With specific and practical deeds, the post’s staff have secured locals’ trust in them and are proud to be border guards at the southernmost area of the nation.
