PANO - On October 20th, a blaze on the foreign ship, Wealthy Globe, in Vung Tau city, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, was completely extinguished after 20 hours, and 31 crew members on board were taken ashore safely, announced the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial Border Guards.
The 25,000-ton ship, which ran aground on Bai Truoc (Front Beach) of Vung Tau City in July, 2010, caught fire on Sunday, October 20th. Upon being notified of the news, 10 fire fighting ships of the Vietnam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (VMRCC) of Region 3, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and the provincial Border Guard, joined efforts to extinguish the blaze and save those on board.
At present, relevant agencies remain close the scene of the fire for further investigation and overcoming the consequences.
