The event was co-chaired by Colonel Pham Nguyen Phu, Deputy Chief of Staff of Vietnam Coast Guard Region 2 Command and head of the Vietnamese delegation, and Colonel Alberto T. Ferre, Chief of Staff of the Maritime Safety Command and head of the Philippine delegation.

An overview of the exchange

Immediately following the opening ceremony, young officers from both sides held a professional exchange session. Discussions focused on enhancing coordination in maritime search and rescue operations and sharing experience in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

The participants also actively exchanged practical lessons learned from their operational experience, helping strengthen professional capabilities and improve readiness for future cooperation in maritime law enforcement.

Later the same day, the Vietnamese and Philippine young officers visited SOS Children's Village Da Nang, where they met with, encouraged, and presented gifts to children.

The exchange program has become a bridge of friendship and goodwill, reflecting the aspirations of the younger generation while contributing to the continued development of the strong and enduring cooperative ties between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard.

According to Colonel Pham Nguyen Phu, the event carries special significance as both countries prepare to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1976-2026). It also marks a new milestone in cooperation between the two nations' maritime law enforcement agencies.
