Captain Tun Lu visits Frigate 012 - Ly Thai To.

The 012 - Ly Thai To, headed by Senior Colonel Nguyen Cong Son, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 4, was welcomed by Captain Tun Lu, Deputy Commander of the Tanin Tharyi Nval Region of the Myanmar Navy.

At the meeting on the Vietnamese ship, Colonel Tun Lu expressed his delight at receiving a ship of the Vietnam People’s Navy visiting Myanmar for the first time and underlined that it would serve as an opener of similar visits of Vietnamese naval ships in the coming time, contributing to strengthening  the bilateral friendship.

On the same day, Senior Colonel Nguyen Cong Son led the Vietnamese naval delegation to pay courtesy visits on Commander of Tanin Tharyi Naval Region, Zwe Win Myint; Commander of Myeik Coastal Military Region, Major General Thaung Htike Shwe; and Minister of of Security and Border of Tanin Tharyi Region, Colonel U Kyaw Zaya.

At the meetings, the hosts appreciated the goodwill of the Vietnam People’s Navy in promoting friendship and cooperation between the two navies, via the visit of the 012 - Ly Thai To to Myanmar.

In line with the development in Vietnam - Myanmar defense ties, the two naval forces’ cooperation has been expanded considerably through delegation exchanges at all levels.

Major General Thaung Htike Shwe emphasized the sound development between Myanmar and Vietnam, adding that Myanmar highly value defense capacities of the Vietnam People’s Army.

For his part, Senior Colonel Nguyen Cong Son expressed his belief that the visit would make contribution to enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the two militaries and to beefing up cooperation between the two navies.

The Vietnam People’s Navy wants to continue to maintain friendship exchanges and cooperation activities with the Myanmar Navy to contribute to expanding the bilateral relations between the two militaries in particular and the two countries in general, he concluded.
