PANO - The Vietnamese search and rescue (SAR) teams recovered seven more earthquake victims from the rubble on July 2 (local time) during operations in the Playa Grande area of La Guaira State, Venezuela.

Responding to requests from local residents, the Vietnamese contingent was coordinating with other international search forces to locate and hand over 12 locations suspected of containing trapped victims to the Venezuelan authorities for further operations.

With the latest recovery efforts, the Vietnamese personnel have recovered a total of 30 earthquake victims from the disaster site. During the day, the contingent's medical personnel also continued providing free medical examinations and medicines for local residents.

On the same day, Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Director of the Search and Rescue Department under the General Staff and head of the Vietnamese SAR contingent, met with rescue teams from Cuba and Türkiye. The meeting was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My, Vietnam's Defense Attaché to Venezuela Senior Colonel Vu The Trung, along with officials from the Vietnamese Embassy and the Office of the Defense Attaché.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese side exchanged experience with their Cuban and Turkish peers in responding to non-traditional security challenges, particularly in earthquake disaster relief operations in Venezuela. The Cuban delegation also expressed pride in the long-standing brotherly solidarity between Cuba and Vietnam.
