The prestigious medal recognizes the dedication and outstanding contributions of individuals and collectives that have demonstrated resilience, professionalism, and commitment throughout their peacekeeping deployment.

In his remarks, UNISFA Force Commander and Acting Head of Mission Major General Ganesh Kumar Shrestha said the medal was not only well-deserved recognition of the recipients' perseverance but also tangible evidence of their meaningful contributions. From transforming dangerous crossing points into safe, durable infrastructure, including Banton Bridge, to maintaining nearly 100 kilometers of critical transport routes under demanding operational conditions, the Vietnamese engineers demonstrated exceptional technical expertise and courage. Beyond their engineering accomplishments, he noted, they served as true ambassadors, strengthening trust between local communities and the U.N.

At the ceremony

On behalf of the Ministry of National Defense delegation, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations Senior Colonel Pham Tan Phong expressed pride in the U.N.’s recognition of Vietnam's peacekeeping force. He commended the outstanding performance of the Engineering Company Rotation 4 and the Vietnamese individual officers, saying the medals were a  well-deserved recognition of their resilience, professionalism, and dedication they demonstrated while serving in one of the mission's most challenging environments. He expressed confidence that they would continue to uphold the proud image of the Vietnam People's Army and successfully complete the remainder of their mission.

He also thanked the leadership of UNISFA for its continued support and for providing favorable conditions that have enabled Vietnam's peacekeeping personnel to carry out their duties effectively.

Throughout its deployment, the Engineering Company Rotation 4 has excelled not only in engineering and infrastructure support but also in civil-military cooperation (CIMIC). Vietnamese blue berets have provided medical care, repaired schools, and built desks and chairs for students, helping strengthen community trust and contribute to stability in the Abyei region. 

For every officer and service member, the medal is both an honor and a reminder of the responsibilities ahead. With the remainder of the deployment recognized as a critical period, the unit remains committed to maintaining strict discipline, strengthening unity, and successfully fulfilling all assigned tasks.
