PANO - RSS Endurance 207, a Singaporean warship, commanded by Commander Jason Yee Choon Wai, sailed off Ho Chi Minh City to conduct PASSEX Exercise 2011 with the Vietnamese ship HQ 11 under Brigade 171, Naval Region B in the territorial waters off Vung Tau City.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Anh, Deputy Chief-of-Staff of Brigade 117, the exercise aims to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two navies and is part of the program, “Hello ASEAN” exclusively designed for ASEAN naval ships under the initiatives launched in the fifth ASEAN Naval Chiefs Meeting held in Vietnam.
That was the sixth visit of a Singaporean naval ship to Vietnam, the third visit to Ho Chi Minh City and the first joint exercise between the Singaporean and Vietnamese navies.
During the exercise, the two naval ships practiced international signal information, lamplight-signaling, semaphore and rescue at sea.
RSS Endurance 207 started their five-day visit to Ho Chi Minh City on August 25th.
