The exercise aimed to enhance the command capability and coordination between commanding officers and agencies of the border guard command and border posts of Son La province with the Louangphabang provincial Military Command in handling circumstances in border areas. The event’s results contributed to strengthening the cooperation between the Son La provincial Border Guard Command and the Louangphabang provincial Military Command in managing and protecting border areas and preventing illegal border crossings, thus maintaining security and order and building a borderline of peace, friendship, and development.

According to Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Major General Le Van Phuc, over the past time, the cooperation between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and Lao Border Guard Department has been maintained and fruitfully developed.

On that basis, defense leaders of the two countries allowed the border guard commands of Vietnam’s provinces and the military commands of Laos’ localities to work together to organize joint drills on preventing free migration and illegal border exit and entry through Vietnam – Laos borderline in accordance with their actual situations.

In realizing the protocol and cooperation plan between the Vietnamese and Lao defense ministries, the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Lao Border Guard Department agreed to assign the Son La provincial Border Guard Command and the Louangphabang provincial Military Command to organize the joint exercise to enhance their coordination in handling circumstances in border areas and maintaining political security and social order in the areas along the Vietnam – Laos borderline.

Major General Nguyen Van Phuc believed that through the exercise, specialized agencies would draw valuable experience and clarify theoretical and practical issues related to the coordination of the two forces in protecting border areas and combating free immigration and illegal border exit and entry through the borderline.

At the end of the exercise, the Son La provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to two collectives and four individuals and Border Guard Command, three collectives and six people with outstanding achievements in the exercise. Meanwhile, two collectives and four individuals received certificates of merit from the Louangphabang provincial People’s Committee, and two collectives and six people received certificates of merit from Louangphabang Military Command.
