Nguoc and Tariep are hamlets located near the shared borderline of Vietnam and Laos. The localities are facing numerous difficulties due to harsh weather conditions and poor transport infrastructure. Since the two sides have long-term relationship, local people regularly meet, exchange, trade, and help each other raising living standards.
Over the past 15 years, the twinning movement between the residential clusters along the shared borderline has been well implemented, contributing to promoting the solidarity among people in border areas of the two countries. People of the two hamlets have thoroughly grasped and strictly implemented twinning regulations and agreement on regulations on land border and border gate management between the two governments. The two sides have effectively carried out the movement of mobilizing the public to manage the borderline and border markers and safeguarding security in hamlets and border areas. People of the two hamlets have helped each other in socio-economic and cultural development, contributing to raising their material and spiritual life and building strong borderline.
The two hamlets have organized 61 patrols to protect the borderline and border markers, held dozens of meetings to disseminate law, provide farming techniques for, and update local people with disease prevention methods, and repaired 3km of road and 21 houses.
The twinning movement has proved to be a good guideline. It has contributed to consolidating the traditional friendship between people of the two countries living along the shared borderline, promoting socio-economic and cultural development, and protecting sovereignty and security in border areas in each country.
