PANO - Vietnam and Venezuela’s Ministries of National Defence should hold more delegation exchanges at all levels to boost mutual understanding and tap more cooperation potentials, said Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Vietnam People’s Army.

Addressing the reception given to the visiting delegation from the Institute of Advanced Studies on National Defence of Venezuela, led by its director Rogelio Manuel Heredia on May 22nd in Hanoi, General Khanh laid stress on the flourishing diplomatic ties between the two countries since its establishment in December 1989. He also pointed out new developments in the defence ties, which the Vietnamese defence attaché office in Venezuela has served as a bridge to enhance.
The host asked the Venezuelan Ministry of Defence to send more officers to study at the Vietnam National Defence Academy and promised the Vietnamese Defence Ministry and the General Staff would create the best conditions for Venezuelan units and academies to visit and have effective fact-finding trips in Vietnam.
For his part, the Director of the Venezuelan institute thanked the host for a warm welcome and promised to convey what Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Khanh had said to the Venezuelan Minister of Defence after the visit.
He asserted that the Venezuelan people and army have always been side by side with Vietnamese people and army in the cause of national construction and protection.
