PANO - Russia is willing to support and share experience in UN peacekeeping operations with Vietnam, said Lieutenant General Yu.M.Staviskiy.
The visiting general, Commander of the Russian Engineering Corps, said that while being received by Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, on October 9 at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.
At the reception , General Minh held that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in UN peacekeeping operations by the Vietnamese and Russian Ministries of National Defense in 2017 has laid a foundation to expand the cooperation in that field in a practical and effective manner. The Vietnamese general suggested the two sides continue to exchange defense delegations at all levels in UN peacekeeping operations, promote information, experience and expertise sharing in the field via the organizations of more personnel training courses, seminars, and experts’ visits and strengthen cooperation in military engineering in the time to come.
In agreement with the host’s suggestions, General Staviskiy said that Russia will discuss with Vietnam the early deployment of an engineering company for a suitable UN mission.
