Vietnam expands defense relations with Japan
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Military Central Commission, Deputy Defense Minister, received Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kazuyuki Nakane at the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense in Hanoi on August 10.
Addressing the event, Gen. Vinh said that the relations between Vietnam and Japan are in the stage of fine development; in which defense cooperation has obtained promising results thanks to the attention by leaders of the two Ministries of Defense and the two militaries, for mutual benefits and for peace, stability and development of each country. These achievements also contributed to consolidating peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.

He also expected that Vietnam and Japan would continue to strengthen defense cooperation activities in the coming time, especially in delegation exchange, search and rescue, natural disaster prevention, overcoming post-war consequence relief, and participation in UN peacekeeping operations in an effort to make bilateral defense relations an important pillar in Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership.
For his part, Mr. Kazuyuki Nakane thanked Gen. Vinh for the warm reception and affirmed that Japan would contribute to promoting defense cooperation between Vietnam and Japan on the basis of the memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation, signed by the two Ministers of Defense in October 2011 and the Declaration on Joint Vision on Defense Cooperation signed in April 2018.
