Vietnam, EU promote cooperation in UN peacekeeping
PANO - Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh asked the EU to continue training Vietnamese officers participating in UN peacekeeping activities and opening language training courses in French.

The Vietnamese senior officer made the request at a reception for Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Vietnam Axelle Nicaise in Hanoi on February 10.
At the meeting, both host and guest highly valued the cooperation between Vietnam and the EU over the past time, especially in national defense.
The EU diplomat said that the EU has approved the Vietnam - EU agreement on the establishment of a framework for Vietnam’s participation in crisis management activities (FPA) of the EU and tasked a peacekeeping expert to support the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations in future cooperation programs.
For his part, General Vinh thanked the EU for its effective assistance in the past, including the dispatch of instructors and experts to the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations.
The Vietnamese official said that Vietnam will ratify FPA in the time to come; therefore, the two sides should complete all preparations for discussions on realizing agreed contents.
