The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense. On the guest’s side were Ambassador of DPRK to Vietnam Ri Sung Guk and DPRK Defense Attaché to Vietnam Colonel Choe Kwang Il.

At the conference, Gen. Thang affirmed that during the wars for national liberation and reunification, Vietnam consistently received wholehearted support from brotherly countries and international friends, including the DPRK. He emphasized that the Party, State, people, and the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) deeply appreciate and always remember the effective support of DPRK and the noble sacrifices of the country’s martyrs in the struggle for national independence in the past.
He highlighted the significance of constructing a memorial monument, exhibition space, and renovating the cemetery dedicated to martyrs of the DPRK in Vietnam. He regarded this project as a symbol demonstrating the friendship and deep gratitude of the country, people, and the VPA toward friendly nations that aided the Vietnamese revolution, thereby educating future generations on the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
The general requested relevant agencies and units under the MND to coordinate closely with one another and with the DPRK side to accelerate the construction of the memorial monument within the International Solidarity, Friendship, and Gratitude Symbol Complex at the Vietnam Military History Museum, ensuring completion on schedule.
For his part, Ambassador Ri Sung Guk expressed his delight that the two countries continue to expand and comprehensively develop their traditional friendship in line with the strategic directions set by top leaders during General Secretary To Lam's state visit to the DPRK and his attendance at the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea in October 2025.

The ambassador highly praised Vietnam's decision to renovate the cemetery in Bac Ninh province, build a memorial monument, and exhibit historical artifacts related to DPRK martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Vietnam. He also expressed his gratitude for the attention and promotion of these activities by Vietnamese leaders and the MND.
According to the ambassador, joint cooperation in constructing the memorial and displaying historical records related to DPRK martyrs holds significant importance in preserving and promoting the fine traditional friendship between the two countries.
