Vietnam and Italy increase defence cooperation

PANO - Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, and Italian Deputy Defence Minister Fillippo Melone signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral defence cooperation on January 21st in Italy.
The signing ceremony took place within the framework of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong’s state visit to Italy.
According to the MoU, the key cooperation fields between the two sides include exchanges of visits at all levels; naval ship visits; high-ranking defence strategy dialogues; cooperation at multilateral defence-security forums; education and training; cooperation among research agencies; cooperation in peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance operations and some other issues of mutual concern.
