MR1 visits Laos
PANO - As part of its working trip, exchange activities, and art performances celebrating the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 – 2025), the Deputy Political Chief of Military Region 1 Senior Colonel Nong Tien Dung led a delegation to visit and pay a courtesy call on leaders of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) of Laos.
At the meeting, the host expressed his pleasure at welcoming the delegation to Laos for exchange activities and art performances and highly praised the spirit of solidarity and steadfast loyalty of the Vietnam People’s Army, describing it as a close friend, comrade, and brother who has always stood side by side with the Lao troops and people of all ethnic groups throughout every stage of the revolution.
The deputy chief of Laos’ GDP emphasized that the Party, State, military, and people of Laos always remember the sincere and heartfelt support that Vietnam has given to Laos. He stressed that the support is unconditional and stems from the affection of true brothers.
On behalf of the MR1’s delegation, Col. Dung expressed his joy and honor in visiting and holding a cordial, solidarity-filled meeting with the Lao GDP. He thanked the host for the respectful and thoughtful welcome extended to the delegation from the moment they arrived in Laos.
He affirmed that, over the years, defense cooperation between the two militaries has continued to be consolidated, becoming one of the key pillars of bilateral relations. Specifically, delegation exchanges and sharing of experience in Party and political work between MR 1 and the Lao military units have been regularly maintained, yielding practical and effective results.

This working trip, including exchange activities and art performances marking the 50th anniversary of Laos’ National Day, was seen as a particularly meaningful opportunity to reaffirm the importance that MR1 and the Vietnam People’s Army as a whole places on the special relationship between the two countries and their militaries.
