In the morning, head of the Korea Coast Guard Academy’s Office Kim Young Chul led a delegation of nearly 100 officers, sailors, and cadets of training ship BADARO to pay a courtesy call on and visit facilities of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command. 

At the meeting, Commander of Coast Guard Region 1 Major General Tran Van Tho expressed delight at welcoming the Korean delegation and training ship BADARO to the port city of Hai Phong.

The Commander of Coast Guard Region 1 highlighted the significance of the visit which is part of practical activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the KCG’s foundation day and 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Coast Guard. The event is also to continue to affirm the fine friendship and cooperation between the two forces and an opportunity for Vietnamese and Korean coast guard troops to share and exchange experience to strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding.

On behalf of the working delegation, Mr. Kim Young Chul thanked the Coast Guard Region 1 Command for the thoughtful and solemn reception and expected that the Vietnam visit of the BADARO would contribute to further strengthening the cooperation between the two forces, thus deepening the diplomatic ties between the two governments.

The guests also visited Ship CSB 8003 which was transferred to the Vietnam Coast Guard by the KCG in 2012. The ship has proved its effectiveness and contributed to raising the Vietnamese coast guard troops’ capability of enforcing law, protecting national sovereignty, and conducting search and rescue operations.

The same day, a friendship volleyball match between the BADARO’s crew-members and troops of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command took place.
