On his part, General Cuong thanked Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah for his warm reception, conveyed the greetings of Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Defense Minister Phan Van Giang to the Brunei Sultan.
He also congratulated the country on its achievements in many fields, especially in COVID-19 prevention and control, expressing his belief that under the leadership of Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Brunei will successfully implement the Brunei Vision 2035, becoming a country with a dynamic and sustainable economy, and enhancing its status in the region and in the world.

Informing the king about the outcomes of his talk with Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi Bin Bol Hassan, General Cuong held that in the coming time, both sides would effectively implement current cooperation mechanism and promote cooperation in other fields.
Highly appreciating the cooperation between the two militaries over the past time, Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah noted that Vietnam and Brunei need to beef up the bilateral cooperation as regulated by the two leaders, with the focus on defense cooperation. Regarding the East Sea (South China Sea) issue, the king noted that ASEAN countries and China should strictly implement the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and continue to sign the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) to ensure peace and stability in the region.
