Defense ministry donates over VND 33 billion to support Cuban people
PANO – On October 17, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) Central Committee, under the authorization of the leadership of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Be Hai Trieu, Chief of the Department of Mass Mobilization, together with a delegation from the General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), handed over more than VND 33.119 billion raised by agencies, units, officers, soldiers, and workers across the military to the VRCS Central Committee when joining the “65 Years of Vietnam-Cuba Solidarity" program.
The program, launched under the direction of the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, is chaired by the Vietnam Red Cross Society. Immediately after its launch, a large number of VPA officers, soldiers, workers, and overseas military personnel actively participated in the program, contributing a total of over VND 33.119 billion.

Beyond direct donations to the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, VPA personnel also contributed through charity account 2022 at Military Bank, established by the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
Launched from August 13 to October 16, 2025, the program has surpassed its initial fundraising target of at least VND 65 billion to assist the Cuban people. In the first phase alone, VND 385 billion was transferred to help the Cuban government and people overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
