Defense Minister Phan Van Giang holds sideline meeting with his Chinese counterpart
PANO - Within the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping, Vietnamese Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang held a sideline meeting with his Chinese counterpart Senior Lieutenant General Dongjun on April 14.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese Defense Minister expressed his pleasure at meeting his Chinese counterpart Dongjun in Hanoi during the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. He highly appreciated the two defense ministries’ coordination and preparations for the 9th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, which will take place from April 16 to 17 in Vietnam’s Lang Son province and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
For his part, the Chinese Defense Minister Dongjun said that he looks forward to meeting General Phan Van Giang again soon when the two ministers co-chair the 9th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange. He emphasized the significance of the event, which takes place during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 18, 1950 – 2025), and shortly after the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.
The two ministers expressed confidence that the 9th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange will be a great success, contributing to making bilateral defense cooperation increasingly substantive, and affirming the role of the two militaries and two defense ministries in strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.
