An overview of the reception |
During the reception, Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that Vietnam always places great importance on promoting the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia and considers it one of the top priorities in its foreign policy.
The recent official visits to Vietnam of leaders of the United Russia Party, the Federation Council, and the Government of Russia have contributed to strengthening and developing relations between the two sides in a variety of fields, in which defense cooperation serves as one of the important pillars.
The deputy defense minister also emphasized that over the past time, together with the fruitful development of Vietnam - Russia relations, defense cooperation between the two countries has been effectively carried out in the fields of delegation exchange, training, scientific research within the framework of the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, military history, and military medicine, among others.
In the time to come, Gen. Chien proposed that both sides continue to effectively implement the defense cooperation plan for 2023, especially external activities of leaders of the two defense ministries, including the 6th defense strategic dialogue at the deputy defense minister level, and the Meeting of the Standing Committee of Coordination for the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center.
Still, he required the Russian side to accelerate assistance for the building of dossiers on the 70-year defense cooperation between Vietnam and the Soviet Union/Russia Federation, and expand collaboration in cyber security and strategic research, to name but a few.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese deputy defense minister asked the Russian Ambassador to pay more attention to, provide support, and further bilateral defense contents, contributing to consolidating Vietnam - Russia ties.
For his part, Ambassador Bezdetko affirmed that the Russian Ministry of Defense always wishes to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Vietnam in line with signed documents. He pledged to make the best possible preparations for the upcoming external activities of leaders of the two defense ministries.
