Defense leader receives Indonesian defense attaché
PANO - On March 5, at the Ministry of National Defense’s headquarters, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, met with Colonel Jerry Henry Manuhutu, the newly-appointed Indonesian Defense Attaché to Vietnam.

On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien congratulated Colonel Jerry Henry Manuhutu on his appointment and expressed his confidence that he would have a successful term that would further strengthen defense cooperation between the two countries.
Gen. Chien affirmed that Vietnam and Indonesia, as neighboring countries sharing maritime borders, have many common interests. He noted that the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia has developed remarkably well, as evidenced by high political trust and comprehensive cooperation across various fields, with defense and security cooperation being one of the key pillars. The deputy defense minister commended the significant contribution of the Indonesian Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam to boosting the cooperation between the two defense ministries, particularly in areas such as exchange visits, unit collaboration, dialogue, training, defense industry, logistics, and mutual support in regional and international forums.
He also expressed thanks to the Indonesian Ministry of National Defense for sending a delegation to attend the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day, and the second Vietnam Defense Expo in December 2024. The Vietnamese defense leader then urged that, in the future, Colonel Jerry Henry Manuhutu would continue to coordinate and promote cooperative activities between the Indonesian and Vietnamese defense ministries, further enhancing the role of defense cooperation in bilateral relations.
For his part, Colonel Jerry Henry Manuhutu conveyed his thanks to the Vietnamese defense leader for the reception. He expressed his delight at the positive outcomes of the bilateral cooperation in general and the defense ties in particular. He hoped that both sides would continue to implement cooperative activities under both bilateral and multilateral frameworks. He further stated that, with strong political determination, goodwill, and the joint efforts of both sides, the defense cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia would continue to grow significantly.
