The host congratulated the Indian officer on his post as a defense attaché to Vietnam. He expressed his belief that the Indian defense attaché would make positive contributions to accelerating the friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries and militaries.

Gen. Chien emphasized that the bilateral defense cooperation has been promoted by both sides and developing in an intensive and practical manner, becoming a pillar in the two countries’ relations.

According to the defense leader, the MND of Vietnam highly appreciates India’s effective cooperation and support to help raise capability of the Vietnam People’s Army. He highlighted the two sides’ effective maintenance of such cooperation mechanisms as defense policy dialogue at deputy ministerial level, exchanges of delegations at all levels, and bilateral exercise on U.N. peacekeeping operations.

Regarding future cooperation, Gen. Chien suggested the two sides coordinate and foster the implementation of some key contents, such as delegation exchanges, particularly high level ones, current cooperation mechanisms, training, cooperation between corps and services, and in defense industry on the basis of contents agreed by the two countries’ senior leaders and included in signed cooperation documents.

The Deputy Defense Minister of Vietnam stressed that the Vietnamese MND always supports and creates favorable conditions for the Indian defense attaché to complete his tasks, thus boosting the bilateral defense ties.

For his part, Colonel Muthukrishnan expressed his honor to be appointed as the Indian defense attaché to Vietnam and affirmed that in his post he would coordinate with the Vietnamese MND’s agencies to bolster the bilateral defense cooperation.

Speaking highly of the success of the Vietnam Defense Expo 2024, the Indian officer underlined that it demonstrated the development potential for the defense industry of Vietnam. He hoped that in the time ahead, the two sides would further their cooperation in defense industry, training, and collaboration between corps and services.
