Defense chief hosts Russian guests
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister, hosted a reception for General Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on March 16 in Hanoi.
At the meeting, General Giang emphasized the fruitful development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia, especially the defense-security cooperation.
The Vietnamese deputy defense minister also highly valued the effective and active cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
General Nikolai Patrushev thanked the host for a warm reception and highlighted the bilateral defense-security cooperation as one of the important pillars of the Vietnam - Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, contributing to peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific.

The Russian general also expressed his belief that the time-honored friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries will further develop in an intensive manner and reap more achievements, especially in defense ties in line with the memorandum of understanding signed in 2013 between the Vietnamese and Russian Defense Ministries.
The same day, the delegation of the Security Council of the Russian Federation worked with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to discuss and realize the cooperation agreements signed by the Vietnamese Ministry and the Secretariat of the Russian Security Council.
