During the meeting, delegates watched a video report on the preparations and organization of the exchange and heard opinions from representatives of participating units. In order to improve future exchanges’ quality, delegates shared experience related to preparation, organization, and management before and during the event.

The conference affirmed that the exchange was a success in all aspects, from planning, preparation, etiquette, decoration, security, communication, to coordination between Vietnam’s and China’s functional agencies and units. This year’s exchange was particularly notable for being more extensive in scale and format, with many meaningful activities being organized before the main event.
One of the highlights of the event was the first-ever participation of both defense ministers, who attended a video conference where the naval forces of both countries reported on preparations for joint patrols. The two ministers also participated in various joint activities in both Vietnam and China, helping to strengthen solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the border defense forces and peoples of both countries.
Concluding the conference, General Chien emphasized that the ninth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange was a success, leaving positive impression and surpassing expectations. He highlighted the importance of the exchange, which followed the successful state visit of Chinese President and Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping to Vietnam. The exchange showcased the pro-active and positive efforts of both countries’ Ministries of National Defense in implementing the mutual understanding achieved during President Xi’s visit.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, General Chien acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts, determination, and responsibility of relevant units, which contributed to the success of the exchange. He emphasized that they should continue maintaining border exchanges with China and other neighboring countries in the future, among others.

The defense leader also instructed agencies and units to implement the directions from both defense ministers during their discussions, including the organization of the Vietnam-China-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange. In addition, they should also actively conduct agreements signed during the exchange.
At the conference, General Chien and Deputy Chief of the General Staff (GS) of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan handed over certificates of merit of the Minister of National Defense, the Chief of the VPA’s GS, and the Chief of the VPA’s General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) to outstanding individuals and collectives during the exchange.
The Vietnam People’s Army Newspaper was honored with one collective and two individuals receiving the certificates of merit from the Minister of National Defense, and one collective and two individuals presented with the certificates of merit from the VPA’s GDP Chief.
