PANO - The Vietnamese Government's Special Mission and the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland on September 10th in Phnom Penh gathered in a conference on upgrading the Vietnam – Cambodia friendship monuments in Cambodia.

Present at the event were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence cum Head of the Special Mission, and Mr. Min Khin, Deputy Chairman cum Secretary General of the Council.

They reached consensus on the contents of a cooperation agreement, which will then be handed to the two countries’ Prime Ministers for signing. Under the agreement, the two sides will establish a joint team to survey the monuments built in Cambodia’s localities for future restoration and upgrading.

General Cung stressed that these monuments are symbols of the Vietnam and Cambodia’s solidarity and friendship. Thus, the restoration and upgrading activities should be effectively conducted in order to show gratitude to those who had fallen for the independence of Cambodia, and to strengthen the long-lasting solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, whereby educating their young generations to uphold the tradition.
