PANO - A square and monument for President Ho Chi Minh was inaugurated in Santo Domingo city, the Dominican Republic, on March 24th.

The inaugural ceremony was held by the United Left Wing Movement Party, municipal authorities and people, and participated in by a Vietnam Communist Party delegation led by Tran Dac Loi, deputy head of the Central External Affairs Committee.

The building of this square and monument dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s great leader, was under Resolution 27/12 of the Municipal People’s Council, approved last September 13th with almost all votes.

Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation was received by the Dominican Republic’s President and Head of the Ruling Dominican Liberation Party, Senate President cum Secretary General of the Dominican Liberation Party and President of the Chamber of Deputies. During those receptions, Dominican leaders expressed their admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and the national salvation cause of the Vietnamese people. Along with praising Vietnam’s achievements in the renewal process and poverty reduction and hunger elimination, they confirmed their intention to boost friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.
