PANO – On July 14 morning, Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia (Mongolian Parliament), Miyegombyn Enkhbold.

The Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia warmly welcomed the Vietnamese PM to Mongolia to pay an official visit to the country and to attend the 11th ASEM Summit. He thanked Vietnam for its sharing experiences in organizing major international events like ASEM.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the recent positive developments in bilateral traditional friendly relations between Vietnam and Mongolia and close ties between the two parliaments. They pledged to boost bilateral cooperation and support for each other in multilateral forums as well as increase exchange of experience between the legislative bodies of the two countries. They also agreed to collaborate closely with each other to have the same view on international issues, and boost trade and economic cooperation to match potential in the future.

The Vietnamese PM congratulated the host on his being elected as the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia, thanked the Mongolians for their valuable support for Vietnam during its past struggles for national liberation and unification. He suggested increasing exchanges of high-ranking delegations of the two countries’ Party, State and Parliament, and passed an invitation to visit Vietnam from the Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly to the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia.

The host underscored that Mongolia considers Vietnam a key partner in Southeast Asia and the country will continue attaching much importance to its relations with Vietnam in the future. He also asked Vietnam to back Mongolia in joining APEC in the time to come.

Earlier on July 14, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse and the Vietnamese delegation visited the woolen processing factory Gobi in the outskirt of Ulan Bator. Leaders of the factory guided the PM and Vietnamese delegation around the factory and introduced its major products, including its famous lamb woolen products, to the guests.

Also on the July 14 morning, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the Vietnam-Mongolia Business Forum held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Some 65 Vietnamese businesses and a number of local enterprises participated in the event.

Addressing the event, the Vietnamese Prime Minister said that trade and economic ties between the two countries remain modest and have yet to match the bilateral good political ties and potentials of the two countries. The Vietnamese PM assured the participating Mongolian businesses that the Vietnamese Government will provide most favorable conditions for them to invest in Vietnam.

He underscored that the two sides still have many unexploited potentials and strengths to supplement and support each other for development and prosperity of each country.
