The declaration reads, challenges currently facing the world will not be settled if human rights have not been respected, and gender equality has not been practiced throughout the world. Gender equality not only promotes human rights but also facilitates sustainable development by effectively exploiting all necessary potentials and resources for reforms and transformations. Female speakers of parliament are determined, “United for Shaping the Future” aimed to promote cooperation among nations, and strengthen partnership among the government, private sector and the whole society to deal with global challenges.
Female leaders of parliaments are also committed themselves to placing people’s happiness and peace, prosperity and integrity of the planet and human beings into the core of strategic goals of their parliaments as well as into the center of the efforts for development.

They all called for gender equality. To get this done, female leaders of parliaments pointed out such major missions as: Increasing the rate of women in the lawmaking process and parliamentary supervision, and reaching gender equality in political and parliamentary activities, by 2030; frequently evaluating activities of parliaments of countries to guarantee gender equality practices in these institutions; joining hands in eradicating discrimination of all forms and violence against women and girls; promoting women’s economic right by bridging the income gap, eliminating inequality of economic opportunity and preventing harassment in workplace; ensuring access to education and healthcare for women and girls in every situation, including during war or conflict; and boosting cooperation between women and men to achieve the goals.
Earlier on December 12 (local time), Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan had a meeting with President of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Amal Abdulla Al Qubaisi.
The guest thanked the host for inviting the Vietnamese NA delegation to the 11th Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament in the UAE and for her warm reception given to the Vietnamese NA delegation. NA Chairwoman Ngan highly valued the host country’s organization and preparation for the summit.
Regarding bilateral relations between the two countries, Ms. Ngan said, the UAE is a leading partner of Vietnam in the Middle East in terms of trade, investment and labor as well as Vietnam’s 7th largest export market in the world. She believed that potential for bilateral cooperation remains large, and the two countries, therefore, should promote cooperation, particularly in labor, trade and investment.
For her part, Ms. Amal Abdulla Al Qubaisi expressed her delight upon receiving the Vietnamese NA Chairwoman and thanked the Vietnamese NA delegation for their active participation in and their important contributions to the success of the summit.
The host underscored the important position of Vietnam in Asia, saying that the UAE prioritizes Vietnam in its foreign policy and wants to expand cooperation with Asia, particularly Vietnam. She also suggested that the legislative bodies of the two countries enhance bilateral cooperation and join hands with the two governments to bolster friendly relations and multi-faceted cooperation between the UAE and Vietnam.
