At the briefing, the Chinese ambassador said that during the visit, the two countries’ senior leaders agreed to boost dissemination about the friendly ties between the two countries, mutual understanding between the two peoples, and voiced their support for the two countries’ localities, especially border ones, to carry out exchange and cooperation activities.
During their talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang straightforwardly discussed sea-related issues and reached agreement on persistently settling disagreements through peaceful means.
The positive outcomes of the visit were demonstrated via the two countries’ issuance of the joint statement with diverse contents, and the signing of 10 cooperation agreements in transportation connectivity, customs, social welfare, education, agricultural trade, media, and banking.
Regarding the two countries’ current relations, Ambassador He Wei assessed that visits by senior leaders of the two parties and states to each country in recent years have sent a message on the friendly ties between Vietnam and China and manifested the high-level attachment of importance to the development of the two countries’ relationship.
The diplomat underlined the importance of the ties between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Chinese Communist Party, saying that this is the political foundation and key factor in the bilateral relations of the two countries. In recent years, under the strategic direction of top leaders of the two parties and states, the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has constantly seen positive strides. In the time ahead, the two sides need to persevere in the strategic direction that the top leaders of two parties agreed for the development of the two parties and countries.
The ambassador said that the two countries’ announcement of building the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance in December 2023 defined the new position for the relations between the two parties and states, lifting the bilateral ties to a new height.
Given that next year will mark the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and be the “Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange,” Ambassador He Wei stressed that it will be a good opportunity for the two countries to continue promoting their traditional friendship, and turn the friendship between the two peoples into a catalyst for the bilateral relations.
