At the meeting, VUS President Nguyen Tam Chien spoke highly of fine developments in the Vietnam-US relations. Particularly, they have been working together in addressing the aftermath left behind from the war in Vietnam, such as the Environmental Remediation of Dioxin Contamination at the Da Nang Airport Project and the search for missing in action soldiers.

Chien appreciated effective cooperation between VUS and VFW so far, hoping that VFW will continuously provide information on Vietnamese soldiers killed or reported missing in action during the war to contribute to boosting the friendship between the two peoples.

For his part, Vincent "B.J." Lawrence, Senior Vice-Commander-in-Chief of the US VFW, held that his organization annually sent missions to visit Vietnam to study the country’s current conditions and the Vietnam-US relations.

Lawrence added that they especially pay attention to searching American soldiers reported missing in action in the war in Vietnam as well as mobilize their members to hand over the Vietnamese side documents related to Vietnamese soldiers missing in action during the war.
