The diplomat noted that Vietnam is actively pursuing the establishment of a resident embassy in Ethiopia, demonstrating a strong political commitment and the country’s intention to enhance its presence in Africa, where Ethiopia plays a pivotal role.

President Selassie expressed confidence that the ambassador will contribute to deepening bilateral ties. He welcomed recent progress in cooperation and highlighted the upcoming launch of the first direct flight between Addis Ababa and Hanoi, set to begin on July 1. He underscored that this will be the first direct air link between Vietnam and Africa, opening up significant opportunities for people-to-people exchanges, trade, investment, and tourism ties.

Both sides agreed on the need to further implement existing agreements, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, science and technology, education, and people-to-people exchange.
