Their discussion focused on the significance of people-to-people diplomacy to bilateral ties, with Phong presenting his organization’s work in the field to the visiting official.
The VUFO Vice President asked the Deputy FM to help the VUFO’s committee for solidarity with El Salvador people connect with potential partners in the Central American country.
He said his organization appreciates El Salvador’s support toward Vietnam’s bid for the post of UNESCO Director General for the 2017-2021 tenure from the second round, with hope for its continued assistance for Vietnam in upcoming rounds.
Stressing the importance of agencies like the VUFO to solidarity among nations, Carlos Castaneda noted he would convey the Vietnamese organization’s proposals to relevant bodies at home.
Friendship and solidarity are the basis of long-time relations between Vietnam and El Salvador, he stated.
