Vietnam-DPRK martial arts exchange program held to mark 75 years of diplomatic ties
A martial arts exchange program between athletes of Vietnam and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) was held in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on April 22 to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Martial arts masters of both nations delivered captivating performances, showcasing the unique essence of each country’s martial traditions. Spectators enjoyed demonstrations of traditional Vietnamese martial arts alongside powerful displays of DPRK Taekwondo. The exchange program served as a vivid symbol of friendship, mutual respect, and shared aspirations for peace, development, and prosperity.

Within the program, the 2025 National Traditional Martial Arts Club Championship officially kicked off, with more than 700 athletes, coaches, and referees from 32 provinces and cities across the country taking part.
Running through April 30, this year’s tournament has attracted a record number of participants, with 246 athletes competing in performance and 226 in combat, reflecting the growing popularity and evolution of traditional martial arts in Vietnam.
As a key national event, the championship plays a vital role in preserving and promoting the quintessence of Vietnamese traditional martial arts, while creating a playground for exchange and enhancing the martial spirit of martial arts schools and sects. Beyond competition, it helps discover and select talents for Vietnam’s national martial arts team.
