Vietnam always ensures that religions are equal before the law and promotes good cultural and ethical values and religious resources for the country's development, Thang stressed.

The Law on Belief and Religion is formulated in accordance with the international conventions to which Vietnam is a member, and in conformity with the actual situation of beliefs and religions in Vietnam. It is implemented uniformly nationwide, creating a solid legal framework to better ensure the right to freedom of belief and religion of everyone, the official stated.

He said that since the law took effect, competent Vietnamese agencies have recognized four religious organizations, issued operation licenses to one organization and allowed the establishment of three religious training facilities.

Thousands of Vietnamese groups have been granted certificates for their religious activities, along with more than 60 groups of foreigners legally residing in Vietnam, he noted, adding that Buddhist scriptures have been published in 21 languages of ethnic groups, more than 70 religious establishments have been granted certificates for their land use rights, and 17 titles of religious books with a total of 4,418 copies have been put into use in the libraries of 54 prisons.

The Deputy Minister suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should continue to hold exchanges and dialogues on democracy, human rights, and religious freedom.

Vietnam is ready to welcome international delegations coming to explore the situation of beliefs and religions in the spirit of goodwill, respect for objectivity, and compliance with Vietnamese laws during their visiting and working process, he pledged.
