Both sides held talks on board Vessel CSB 8004 to reach consensus on fishery inspection in the area, including monitoring the implementation of the fishery cooperation agreement at nine points in the Gulf of Tonkin’s joint fishing area.

It was the 17th time they had conducted joint inspection since the agreement took effect. Activities include expertise exchange, inspection and supervision of fishermen’s fishing vessels.

Liu said ties between the Vietnamese and Chinese coast guards have been growing rapidly and substantially, contributing to promoting extensive cooperation between the Vietnamese and Chinese law enforcement forces while raising mutual understanding between the two countries’ governments and peoples.

Also on April 24, they presented gifts to Nguyen Van Son, captain of fishing Vessel TH 92016 TS with nine crew-members aboard.

The joint inspection will last till April 26.
