The presentation ceremony was held on the sidelines of the top Vietnamese leader’s state visit to Denmark.

General Secretary and President Lam expressed his wish to dedicate this distinction to the people of Viet Nam. He extended this dedication to generations of citizens from both nations who built and cultivated the bilateral friendship over the past 55 years, as well as to those actively preserving this heritage and steering ties between the two countries toward a new stage of growth.

Furthermore, he noted that the honour signifies a shared commitment to safeguarding and advancing the substantial legacy cultivated by successive generations across both nations.

Conferred by King Frederik X amid the General Secretary and President’s official trip and matching the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties (1971-2026), the bestowal of the Order of the Elephant carries vital diplomatic and political weight. The gesture underscores the profound respect accorded to the Vietnamese leader and highlights how highly the Danish Royal Family values its longstanding partnership with Viet Nam.

Throughout the 55 years following the establishment of diplomatic relations, Viet Nam and Denmark have fostered robust bonds of mutual cooperation and solidarity. Bilateral engagements have steadily transformed from conventional development aid into a Comprehensive Partnership in 2013, which was subsequently elevated to a Green Strategic Partnership in 2023.

The awarding of the Order of the Elephant during this state trip pays tribute to the major milestones achieved through two-way collaboration, while further solidifying the close ties connecting the leadership and citizenry of both nations.
