Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense General Nguyen Tan Cuong were among the distinguished guests.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM and FM Bui Thanh Son emphasized that over the past 75 years, Vietnam and the Soviet Union (now Russia) have always stood side-by-side, been loyal, respectful, understanding and supportive friends.

The Vietnamese government leader said that the Party, State and people of Vietnam never forget  the whole-hearted support from Soviet Union and present Russian people in the past cause to liberate the South and reunify the nation and in the current national defense, construction, and development.

He noted that the traditional friendship and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries have gained positive outcomes and been a foundation for the two nations to enter the new era and meet new requirements of the  time.

He expressed his belief that 2025 will be an important milestone in the new fine development period of the bilateral relations. Vietnam and Russia will together continue to write new pages in their traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation to meet their interests and expectations, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, Bui Thanh Son said.

For his part, Ambassador Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko said that during the three fourths of a century, the relationship between Russia and Vietnam has come a long way and the people of the two countries have stood side by side in the most difficult times.

He stressed that it is the sincere affection and friendship between the two countries and their people that have created a solid foundation for the two countries to intensively develop their bilateral cooperation across all fields.
