In particular, for Laos, this is the first visit by a key Vietnamese leader and the first visit by a foreign leader since the country completed the consolidation of its key leadership positions, following the election of a new Prime Minister and National Assembly President by the Lao Party, State, and National Assembly.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung departs Phnom Penh for Viet Nam, concluding his successful official visit to Cambodia.

As for Cambodia, the visit comes as the country continues implementing key plans to advance its digital economy development strategy and prepare for upcoming diplomatic activities.

During the visits, the Lao and Cambodian leaders held extensive discussions with the Vietnamese PM on various aspects of relations between the two Parties and countries, as well as issues of mutual concern. These exchanges helped strengthen political trust and mutual understanding and establish important political orientations for Viet Nam’s relations with Laos and Cambodia. All sides also reaffirmed that defense and security are of particular importance and constitute a pillar of bilateral cooperation.

Another important outcome of the visits was that PM Le Minh Hung and the leaders of the two countries exchanged views and assessed the progress of practical cooperation across multiple fields. They also worked with relevant ministries and agencies to essentially resolve a number of outstanding difficulties and obstacles encountered during project implementation in recent years.

As a result, numerous cooperation projects agreed upon by the Politburos of the respective parties, the General Secretaries and Presidents of Viet Nam and Laos, the Politburo of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party, and Cambodian leaders have been advanced and achieved tangible results. The visits also opened up new avenues of cooperation, new areas for collaboration, and new joint projects, generating fresh development resources for Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia.

Through these visits, Viet Nam has actively implemented the foreign policy outlined at the 14th National Congress, which underscores the importance and priority attached to relations with neighboring countries, particularly Laos and Cambodia. The visits also serve as important preparations for upcoming high-level engagements between Viet Nam and the two countries.

In addition to high-level diplomatic activities, these engagements will include the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam–Laos diplomatic relations, the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Viet Nam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam - Cambodia diplomatic relations.
