The Japanese Prime Minister's sending of former PM Suga Yoshihide as a special envoy leading a delegation of the Japanese Government to Vietnam to pay tribute to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong demonstrated the sound friendship and cooperation between the two parties and two nations as well as Japan’s respect for the late leader, he added.

Trung went on to speak highly of the Japanese Government and people’s support for Vietnam during the nation’s renewal and socio-economic development over the past years, urging the two nations to enhance mutual understanding, and political trust through the exchange of visits across the channels of government, parliament and party.

The two sides should coordinate to effectively carry out the comprehensive strategic partnership, with Japan assisting Vietnam in the process of industrialization and modernization, and promote collaboration in the fields of economy-trade-investment, security-defense and people-to-people exchange, he suggested, asking the Japanese side to continue creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese citizens in the country.

Kisaburo, for his part, hailed Vietnam’s rapid development over the past years, stressing Japan sees Vietnam as its important partner in the region, and is ready to help Vietnam realize its target of becoming a high-income developed nation by 2045.

Japan is also willing to team up with Vietnam in the domains of infrastructure development, science-technology, innovation, human resources training, digital transformation, green transition and semiconductors, and will provide new-generation ODA for the country to meet its sustainable development requirements, he added.
