Ho Chi Minh City boosts cooperation with AstraZeneca
PANO - Ho Chi Minh City and AstraZeneca boast much cooperation potential, said Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Phan Van Mai.
The Southern economic hub’s leader stated that during a reception on April 12 for Pascal Soriot, CEO of the U.K.-based pharmaceutical and biotechnology company AstraZeneca.
At the event, the Vietnamese official spoke highly of AstraZeneca’s vaccine’s efficiency and thanked the company for supporting Vietnam in the COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.
He suggested the two sides consider cooperation program in the fields that the city gives priority to and AstraZeneca has strength, such as developing a medical research center, vaccines, biologicals, and medical equipment.
Chairman Phan Van Mai confirmed that the city will create the best possible conditions for AstraZeneca and hopes to receive the company’s assistance and experience to help build the municipal medical sector.
For his part, Pascal Soriot said that AstraZeneca and Ho Chi Minh City share a common development vision and major cooperation opportunities.
He stressed that the company is ready to cooperate with the city in the areas of shared concern such as biochemical research and biological product manufacturing.
He added that the company is willing to support the city to realize its strategic projects with advanced healthcare solutions to contribute to the local economic development.
