Swiss Party of Labor delighted with Vietnam's development achievements
The Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland has hosted a gathering for friends and supporters for Vietnam in the European country on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025).
Ambassador Phung The Long highlighted the historic significance of Vietnam’s triumph in 1975 - a milestone that ended the war and ushered in a new era of peace, reunification, and development for Vietnam.
He also mentioned the development of bilateral ties between Vietnam and Switzerland, noting that earlier this year, the two countries’ leaders agreed in principle to elevate their relationship to a comprehensive partnership.
According to Alexander Eniline, Chairman of the Swiss Party of Labor, this triumph proved imperialism can be defeated by a nation that cherishes freedom and peace. He also expressed his delight at Vietnam's achievements in building socialism and voiced his confidence that the Southeast Asian nation will attain even greater success in the future.
Eniline also thanked the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland for consistently serving as a bridge in connecting the bilateral relations and for keeping partners updated on Vietnam's socio-economic development.
He hoped that parties will accelerate negotiations and soon sign a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which includes Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
Eniline showed his delight at the positive bilateral relations between Switzerland and Vietnam, which benefit both sides, saying that the early signing of the FTA will further contribute to Vietnam’s socio-economic development.
