He affirmed that Vietnam was one of the strongest supporters of Algeria's revolutionary cause, adding the name of the revolutionary hero Vo Nguyen Giap, a friend of Algeria, will forever be engraved in the memories of the Algerian people.
The great Dien Bien Phu Victory proved that oppressed peoples always have the ability to regain their sovereignty and force their enemies to respect them, inspiring other nations, he stated, stressing that it was a source of spiritual strength for Algeria and a catalyst for the will to fight, which played a crucial role in driving forward the Algerian liberation revolution.
Major General Nguyen Hoang Nhien, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Military History, said the victory brought Vietnam and Algeria closer together like "neighbors" connected by the currents of their time.
From Vietnam’s Dien Bien Phu Victory, Algeria saw the correct path to liberation, gaining new momentum and renewed confidence that victory was within reach, propelling their revolutionary struggle towards success. This is a prime example of the human liberating value of the victory, he stated.
Through the success of the Algerian revolution, the world, especially in places where people were struggling for independence and freedom, came to know Vietnam more deeply. Through Algeria, Vietnam integrated more extensively into the world. As a result, the support of global peace and progressive forces for Vietnam during the years of its resistance war against U.S. imperialists grew stronger, Nhien stated.
Professor Ahmed Mizab, an expert on security and strategy, held that clarifying the details of this historical period and conducting analyses will provide good lessons in protecting international principles of peace, solidarity, and security in today's world. He stressed the significance of the conference in educating the younger generations on national protection history.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Tran Quoc Khanh affirmed that the two share the noble values of national liberation and human liberation. The victories of Dien Bien Phu and the Algerian Revolution are two of the brightest milestones, carrying significance not only for the past and present but also for the future, he stated.
Participants at the event hailed the national construction cause of Vietnam, describing the country as a model for Algeria in economic development.
