Viet Nam has become one of the world’s 10 largest garment exporters, after China, the EU, Turkey, India, Mexico and Hong Kong, according to statistics released by Italy’s Biella Chamber of Commerce during its working team’s recent visit to Ho Chi Minh City.

With an annual growth of 30 percent and this year’s estimated export turnover of 7.5 billion USD, Viet Nam has made a big leap from the 16th to the 10th position.

Viet Nam’s garment sector has set a target of earning 10-12 billion USD from exports and using 50 percent of locally-made materials in 2010. The figures are expected to be 20-22 billion USD and 75 percent, respectively, by 2020.
