PANO - The southern province of Ca Mau has just approved a project with a cost of VND 1,000 billion to upgrade Song Doc Town into a fourth-level city by 2015.
According to Chairman of the District People’s Committee of Tran Van Thoi, capital for the project will be mobilized from the State and local budgets and businesses.
At this point, local involved bodies are further studying the design and urban planning of the town under the local resolve of developing it into a local maritime economic hub.
For a long time, Song Doc has been a local fishery logistics center with ice plants and seafood processing plants. Yet, the town is not well-planned; the infrastructure is in bad condition and industrial and trade bases are not well-organised but tend to be dispersed.
Under the new design, the town will be arranged into sections, namely residence, trade, industry, fishery logistics and services.
