ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda
President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Haruhiko Kuroda is about to pay an official visit to Vietnam at the end of February 2008 at the invitation of the Vietnamese Prime Minister, according to ADB and the International Cooperation Office under the Vietnam State Bank.

Under the schedule, Vietnam’s Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung will receive ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda.

The top ADB official will then work with Vietnamese officials from the State Bank, Ministries of Finance and Investment-Planning.

The visit is reportedly aimed at discussions of issues related to Vietnam’s economy, measures to strengthen ties between ADB and Vietnam and other issues of concern.

The visit is also seen as a good chance for both sides to exchange ideas prior to the third GMS summit to be held in Laos on March 30-31.

This is the first visit by ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda since he took office on February 1, 2005.
