This is the eighth year the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will work with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of National Defense to organize the event.
Vietnam Trade Fair 2017, as part of the 2017 National Trade Promotion Program, is an important political and economic activity in order to strengthen the traditionally warm relationship between Vietnamese and Cambodian peoples and armies.

Senior Colonel Bui Van Tien, Director of the Military Trade Promotion and Exhibition Center under the Department of Economics of the Ministry of National Defense, held that previous fairs drew hundreds of international and domestic businesses with over 250 booths each, including nearly 40 military firms.
At present, Vietnam is the fifth largest investor in Cambodia, operating approximately 200 projects, worth about US$3 billion. Many large companies of Vietnam, such as the military-run telecom group Viettel, Military Bank, Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Group (Vinacomin), and Vietnam Rubber Group, have an array of effectively-run projects in Cambodia.
Vietnam and Cambodia are looking to $5 billion in two-way trade with a number of measures agreed to achieve the target, particularly in encouraging border trade markets, upgrading major border gates, streamlining administrative formalities, and conducting one-stop-shop customs check at the Moc Bai-Bavet Border Gates.
The upcoming fair will be run on a total area of 10,000sq.m at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center with the participation of around 150 businesses to introduce their products and services at nearly 300 stands.
As this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia, the fair will additionally exhibit items and photos featuring the bilateral traditional friendship, their joint business activities, and Vietnamese military companies in Cambodia.
The Vietnam Trade Fair 2017 is expected to attract thousands of visitors, contributing to heightening trade cooperation in particular and traditional relations between the two peoples and armies in general.
