Vietnam, Japan firms partner in smart city building in Binh Duong
The VNTT Company, a subordinate business of the Becamex IDC Corp., based in southern Binh Duong province, and the NTT Vietnam Corporation, an affiliate company of the NTT Group of Japan, officially signed a business cooperation contract on June 19, a move towards partnership in smart city building in Vietnam.
VNTT, founded in 2008, currently owns one of the three most modern and biggest data centers in Vietnam. Meanwhile, NTT is a leading telecommunications and IT company in Japan.
The newly signed contract covers business cooperation in building, developing and operating cloud Wi-Fi networks and cloud-based value added services.
It is to materialize the memorandum of understanding signed by Becamex IDC and the NTT Group with the aim of cooperating to study the feasibility of developing smart cities in Vietnam, especially in Binh Duong New City.
After the project is carried out, the two sides will continue with piloting a Smart Education model in Binh Duong province.
Addressing the contract signing ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Thanh Liem said the contract is part of activities to implement the province’s smart city building plan.
The contents of the contract are also the fields Binh Duong is interested in and wants to develop so as to meet people, businesses and investors’ demand, he said.
Liem asked Becamex IDC and the NTT Group to promote their affiliates’ efforts to carry out the contract. He also requested local authorities to support VNTT and NTT Vietnam in implementing the contract.
