Major investors eye development potential of Dong Thap
As many as 40 domestic and foreign businesses operating in Ho Chi Minh City on December 9 participated in a trade and investment promotion program launched by the People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap.
At the forum, businesses expressed their keen interest in the potential of Dong Thap province and the advantages it holds in fields such as agriculture, eco-tourism, and traditional craft villages.
They emphasized that recent improvements in transport links between HCM City and Dong Thap and the Mekong Delta region alike have been important factors for investors seeking investment opportunities in the locality.
The province’s great efforts to boost administrative reforms, improve the business climate, and launch startup activities coupled with typical farm produce such as rice, lotus, and cajuput have seen as a new step of investment and cooperation that has sparked growing interest from Ho Chi Minh City businesses.
Local leaders also called on domestic and foreign strategic investors to drive investments into key projects focusing on the fruit and vegetable industry and solutions to logistic system improvement serving agriculture and rural development.
In his remarks, the head of Agriculture and Rural Department under the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Economic Affairs, Nguyen Van Tien, highlighted Dong Thap huge potential and its development opportunities, expressing hope that investors and agri-businesses will play their pioneer role in restructuring the local agricultural sector in the near future in order to develop Dong Thap into an agriculture-based rich province.
